Robert J. Borgman, PhD, President
Dr. Borgman founded Curatek in 1983. His previous industry experience was in drug discovery; research and development; quality; and regulatory affairs with American Critical Care; Abbott Laboratories; and G.D. Searle.
Prior to entering the industry, Dr. Borgman was a professor of Medicinal Chemistry at West Virginia University in Morgantown. He holds a BS in Pharmacy from Creighton University and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from University of Iowa. He is the author of 19 scientific publications and is the inventor of 14 US patents.
James E. Juul, Vice President
Mr. Juul joined Curatek in 1988 and worked for eight years developing the company’s commercial capabilities and directing its salesforce. He rejoined Curatek in 2000 as Vice President, where he has since worked in drug development.
His other industry experience has been in sales management, international marketing, and business development at Sanofi legacy companies, Wyeth and 3M Pharmaceuticals. He holds a BA from the University of Minnesota and is the inventor of four US patents.
June Kaiser, RN, MSN, CCRA, Clinical Research
Ms. Kaiser originally joined Curatek in 1988 and spent 11 years directing clinical research in women’s health. She went on to work in clinical research at G.D. Searle, Organon, and Johnson & Johnson before rejoining Curatek in 2007.
Prior to entering the pharmaceutical industry, Ms. Kaiser worked in emergency nursing and held a faculty appointment at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. She earned a BSN from the University of Illinois and an MSN from Rush University in Chicago. Ms. Kaiser has authored several publications and is editor of an emergency nursing textbook.
Edward A. Wiertel, Finance
Mr. Wiertel has worked with Curatek and affiliated companies since 2015, providing leadership
in finance and accounting. Prior to this time, Mr. Wiertel served as Senior Vice President of
Finance for Fortune Brands, a leading consumer products company.
Prior to those positions, he was a Partner at both KPMG LLP and Arthur Andersen LLP, where he provided audit and various other financial consulting services. He currently sits on the boardof Chicago Youth Centers, a non-profit organization. Mr. Wiertel is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, where he earned a BS in Accounting.
Vytas Ambutas, JD, General Counsel
Mr. Ambutas is the General Counsel and Secretary for Curatek. He has worked with Curatek and a variety of affiliated companies for more than 25 years, providing legal and business expertise.
He also serves as a Director of Aviva Systems Biology Corporation. Mr. Ambutas previously worked in private practice and has a JD from the Loyola School of Law in Chicago and a BS from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
